This gave me exactly what Caraval promised. If you loved the concept of Caraval then this is the book for you. This book has all the whimsy and fun of a middle grade and all the complexity and depth of a more adult book. It doesn't get caught in any of the common pitfalls of YA which has turned me off the genre.
