The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley
3.0
“ In a remote hunting lodge, deep in the Scottish wilderness, old friends gather for New Year.
The beautiful one
The golden couple
The volatile one
The new parents
The quiet one
The city boy
The outsider
The victim.
Not an accident – a murder among friends. “
The book is split into chapters written from the eyes of each person at the lodge and flits from now to then - a countdown to New Years from a few days before. I enjoyed getting to know some of the more interesting characters but didn’t find I connected with any - I also found them a little shallow and cliche, almost incomplete. Perhaps there were simply too many characters to really get to know them all? And this may also be why I felt that things took too long to get started - I was perhaps 75% of the way through before I felt we were getting somewhere beyond wispy hints in each chapter and no answers to anything
