Set in rural Pennsylvania in the early 1900's, this is a beautiful story of a young man coming to age in a time of great change in the USA. The main character learns hard work on the farm, giving the reader many insights in to farming at a time when machinery was beginning to make an appearance. We follow the main character to France where he fought in the trenches during World War I and see what it was like to return to civilian life. We cheer him on as he pursues the girl of his dreams and fights to be accepted by her family. This is a great book. It will move you to tears and encourage you in your faith.
