This was unlike anything I’ve ever read— the experiences of a multigenerational Japanese-Canadian family living in small town Alberta made me feel seen and heard and so super vulnerable. The mingling of Japanese and English words and the importance of food to bridge the cultural divide was phenomenally expressed.
