I have to talk about the ending first. I think the written ending broke me more than the ending I was preparing for. I was SOBBING, and if I wasn’t at work it would have been a 20 minute sob session. It was so beautiful written and I could feel the emotion Shiori was going through.
Onto the rest of the book. It was fine, it was the ending that gave it five stars. The book itself was interestingly paced, some moments fast others painstakingly slow. When I was read, that’s all that mattered, but when I put the book down I almost had to force myself to pick it up and finish it.
There were character I wished that were in the story more, but I understand why they weren’t.
A part that broke me the most was the way Shiori talked about her stepmother. Every moment she was brought up it brought tears to my eyes, because that’s what this whole book was about; fulfilling a dying promise.
Takkan was a wonderful edition to the story, and his love for shiori is, quite literally, to die for.
I’m so happy I didn’t let the meh ending of SCC not let me read TDP because it was well worth it.
