The One by John Marrs

3.5

The One is a book about a version of Earth where there's a service that genetically matches two people together for the best couple, and it's about five people who got matched.

The beginning felt boring for me, and the short story format of it threw me off a bit, but I did eventually get used to it. Some of the main characters were interesting, but others I just cared for the plot and not them, themselves.

I'm just gonna rate each story by themself, because while they're all in the same world they're not actually tied together.

Nick - one of the less interesting characters and one of the less interesting stories. the very last chapter for this part was good though. Everything else kinda sucked, but good romance.   3.5/5

Christopher- probably my favorite plot and my favorite character in the way of how it was done.I liked the whole concept of it and I especially liked how it was done. However, the ending felt weird? It didn't feel like something that'd actually happen.    4.5/5

Ellie - also liked how the character was portrayed, but the plot was too predictable for me. as in I literally knew what was happening and would write about it in my notes app, and be proven correct.  3.75/5

Jade - might be my least favorite story. definitely too predictable as I also got it right off the bat. didn't really care for anything in this story anyways. 3/5

Mandy - I neither liked her or was intrigued by her, but I respect her motivations. the plot definitely sped up there at the end, but it was still decent. did find myself skimming a lot though when it got to her part. 3.5/5
