I remember reading this years ago but I never could remember any specific detail on why. Now I know. This whole book is based upon pedophilia, molestation, rape, torture, grooming, and incest. 

The magic system is so poorly explained that I still don't even know how it works. I can't even say the characters were well written because while there were moments I loved one or two, most of this book is spent from the POV of the future love interest who grooms a child.
