Bloom by Kevin Panetta
4.0
The art is what immediately drew me to this book and it delivers in full. It is gorgeous and conveys the story in such a lovely way. My favorite scenes are the montage like 2 page spreads of Ari and Hector baking together. They convey a joy that is infections. The relationship between the leads is very cute and feels natural. I like watching their romance blossom.
The place where this story lost that one star is in the ending. There is an incident that takes place and then very quickly resolves. The conflict it presented felt shoehorned in and not natural to the rest of the story. I would rather those pages have been spent on character.
Overall this was a great read.
