Review: AHHHH!! Mine To Gain blew past all my expectations from the first page! Cooper and Bea had the most organic and combustible romance I have read from Maggie so far and I adored how they became each other’s person! The way Maggie was able to create these two to be the match for the other was seamless and the forbidden aspect of Bea being Cooper’s little brother’s ex-girlfriend just sealed the deal for me!
Bea was the perfect blend of uniquely herself and a mini version of her brother. I loved seeing her become her own person in this book and thought that her friendship with Cooper was the sweetest and HOTTEST thing ever. I adored the way she became a role model for Lizzy, Cooper’s daughter. Lizzy was such a sweet character to read and I adored how she loved Bea and cheered on the relationship between her father and Bea, just so Bea would stay with the forever! The friendship between Cooper and Bea was heartwarming and much needed with both of their pasts. The way Maggie was able to create the tension between them added a level of heat to this romance I did not expect but also LOVED getting since they both were reluctant to move past that invisible line at first.
Cooper was a huge teddy bear that you want to hug the whole time. I adored the way he tried to stay “just friends” with Bea but also LOVED how he pushed her to be her best self. The way he was able to bring her self esteem up and bring her into the best version of herself was EVERYTHING to me in this book. I also adored the way he was a great father to Lizzy and wanted to better himself for her! The bond he shared with his daughter was beautiful to read and I also liked how Maggie showed the friendship he shared with Lizzie’s mother. The moral dilemma he had about moving in on his brother’s ex-girlfriend provided just the right amount of ups and downs to the romance between them but the way he took the final jump just showed how he was the man Bea needed.
This book was much more than just a football romance and Maggie was able to set up the mystery and intrigue of who was following and stalk!ing Bea that kept me on edge. I never saw the identity of her sta!lker coming and I could only sit and hope for the best when everything started to click into place. The way she tied the culmination of events in this story with the foreshadowing into Ramsey’s upcoming book only make me want Ramsey’s story ASAP so I can see how it will change his character since he and Cooper are almost like brothers!
Rating: 100+, Bea and Cooper were
