I loved the movie - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - but didn’t like the original novel by John le Carré, unfortunately. The book seemed so filled with names and details, hints and uncertainties that I wouldn’t have followed the story if I hadn’t seen the movie first. Although I enjoyed reading it knowing how it would end, noticing little details that would matter later.
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is still my preferred spy book by le Carré, where the atmosphere occupies more space than the cobweb of secrets.
