Overall thoughts, the characters were... alright. I liked our MC Sophia until she got annoying lol, Erin was someone I wanted to THROW MYSELF OFF A BRIDGE BC OF, and Constance was I feel like the only semi-normal one, but she wasn't very developed. The Fairy Godmother was a character that was the most fleshed out in her storyline and her abilities.
Plot wise, I thought the retelling was really creative. BUT I had so many issues with it as well. There could have been SO much more development, but everything was so rushed and the second half was the least re-telling like. I don't know, I guess I had much higher hopes for the novel, but the execution was not it for me.
The writing overall felt quite juvenile, which is something I wish I was more prepared for! I knew it was YA but I didn't know HOW YA it was going to be lol. That's definitely on me, but it's alright.
Overall, I think 22 year old me enjoyed this, but 11-13 year old me would've been OBSESSED with this. I've just read so many novels that bring me EXACTLY what I need, and sadly this wasn't it - BUT, I still really enjoyed it.
