Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant by Curtis Chin
2.25
I don't feel like in the end, this memoir accomplished much. I don't see any life lessons I can learn from it. That said, I do appreciate the raw honesty and the journey to self-acceptance. Somehow this self-acceptance seems to have turned quite privileged. I don't fully understand how the author simultaneously engages his humble upbringing while not acknowledging the struggles of people in his community at all. The end of the book specifically says he wants to give a voice to people like him. Where was that? I didn't find it.
