Alex & Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz
2.0
I was given an advanced sneak peek of this book by netgallery.
I understand that this book was inspired by the musical Hamilton. There could have been more research. I also can't stand the shortening of Alexander to Alex. The 1770s most likely didn't use nicknames. It would be like calling Thomas Jefferson, Tom.
I know one can't be a stickler for the language used for a ya book and maybe this is one of those books that's just for the young adult circle.
As a self proclaimed historian who does a program where the language has to match the time period even for the teens and children performing in the program. I think that's my draw back in not being able to enjoy this book is looking for the language to match the time period.
