The Comeback by Lily Chu
4.0
Phillipa Soo nails it again. ❤️ Really liked it. A touch too much angst for me, but that's my taste, not the book's problem. Ari has some serious issues, needing therapy and literally any amount of introspection. She's been happily living her dad's dream, including perfecting some toxic masculinity traits like never crying and ignoring basic social problems. I tolerated her. Back to the story: her roommate sends a cousin to the apartment to crash while she is away. He's hot and has expensive tastes, but unless someone knows the right things, they would not suspect he's a famous person in hiding. Weirdly, Jihoon, mainly known as K-pop idol Min, is super well-rounded and emotionally healthy. Story 10/10. Narration 10/10. Angst: 10/please stop.
Tropes and things: Forced proximity, class difference, secret identity, secret relationship, angst for days
