Each book in this series has been more enjoyable than the one before due to the steady development of the characters and the situations they find themselves in, with both feeling natural progressions.
This book takes a darker turn, compared to the previous ones, with an enemy from Amar's and the Lobo's past catching up to them. This enemy is a Rougarou, a type of Werewolf who is similar to those portrayed in the underworld films, but who is hundreds of years old and has magical abilities of his own. The story nicely balances the tension and darker aspects the Rougarou brings, with humour and banter to keep it light enough to be a gripping read from start to finish.
Another winner all the way.
