Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

5.0

Mexican Gothic is the first book I've read by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and I loved it! This book starts out as a slow-burn gothic story, and it was reminiscent of other books I've enjoyed like Rebecca, The Yellow Wallpaper, and The Haunting of Hill House (this is a must-read if you enjoy books like this). This book has just enough of a horror aspect in the first half to pull you in, and then things get wild in the second half.

The tension and claustrophobia were so well-done, and I've still been thinking about this book days later. The book also has good body horror, and if you're a fan of gothic stories, horror stories, or both, you need this book! I can't wait to read more from Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
