It took a bit for me to get drawn in, but I eventually was.  It's kind of a slow boil with a few climactic points where the protagonist is set along a new path.  The story is strong, flows well, and the characters are believable.  The end, with Len's realization and the denouement, was so well done and effective that I might consider this a great book even if I had been bored through everything that came before (which I wasn't).
