The Quarry Girls by Jess Lourey

5.0

No spice in this book. Do check the TW before reading.

The narrator did a fantastic job. I felt her voice, pitch, and tempo were well suited to the mood of the book and they did a great job discerning between characters and giving feeling to the story. I would listen to her narrate another book for sure.

It has been a while since I have read or listened to a thriller and I was not disappointed. The narrator did a great job narrating for the tone that was necessary to set the books mood. The story was awesome! Girls are going missing in Pantown and are not being taken seriously by the grownups surrounding the main character and her friends. I loved the way Beth ties into this book. It's amazing how different and trusting things were in the 70s. Growing up in the Midwest I was raised during a time where friends and I could be gone from sun up until our curfew without a worry that something bad would happen to us. Today there's still Midwest nice but a lot more distrust. I would not have been as calm as some of those parents in the book but again it was a different time and essentially a different world. I didn't know who to trust in this book but was not surprised by the ending. I still very much enjoyed it though. I would highly recommend to fans of thrillers.
