Into the Riverlands by Nghi Vo
4.0
Nothing challenges one's comprehension skills like a Nghi Vo book. This is third time that I finished one of hers and thought “I'm not sure what exactly happened here, but I like it all the same”.
Beloved Cleric Chih goes on another journey to uncover the history of the riverlands and stumbles upon peculiar companions and most sinister foes. In the fashion of the two previous books, this one is about the power and beauty of storytelling. Nevertheless, it also carries a subtle warning that popular tales can be unreliable and easily influenced by what suits the narrator's/audience's convenience and taste.
