A contemporary, new story that captures the magic of a folk or fairy tale. The fact that the characters are Deaf and communicate with sign languages make the story possible, but focus the story on Deafness as a disability to overcome. Rather, stage fright, a very common experience is the challenge, and the Deaf community is the source of confidence. Beautifully done. I appreciate that the (Deaf) author insisted on finding a Deaf illustrator to make it completely Own Voices.
