Listen, I went into this pretty much only because it'd been recommended heavily on Booktok and because the author is doing an event nearby and I'm going to it. What I got was one of my favorite audio/books this year. From start to finish the whole story was captivating. From learning about indigenous cultural practices to the mystery/thriller aspect everything was perfect. I also really love that it's set in the recent past and as someone in their early 30s who had a Blackberry phone, it was really appreciated. Daunis's POV throughout the whole story gives the present story and snippets of the past meshing them seamlessly. I like that the changes of Daunis's view on her brother is so subtle throughout the story that if you're not paying attention you'd almost miss it.  I can't wait to read more from this author.
