The House Plant written by Jeremy Ray
This short story is about a house plant that hated humans but hesitantly came to love it’s human, Brenda. I really enjoyed see the world through this house plant aka George’s point of view. Well, you might think that’s kind of odd. Well it IS ODD, but I like odd and I really liked this story. He thought Brenda was initially a plant torturer, LOL but really she was just horrible with plants at first. But determined to make the plant live and love and even develop a bond with her plant, her plant eventually grew. He was there when something traumatic happened that change his life’s trajectory forever.
The ending was sweet and satisfying. And I LOVE what the plant named his new friend. THAT WAS SO CUTE. I’d definitely recommend this short story for a quick read and a reminder that life is short, water your plants (but don’t overwater them) and don’t forget they may be listening to you.
Also, You know those Pixar mini movies right before their full animation movies? He has a mini plant story before this short story and I thought that was a really adorable touch! I think that’s so clever and cute.
