The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

5.0

A Discovery of Witches was one of those books that got me into reading. In fact I'll happily tell you that I've read ADoW 23 times, overall and I still love it. It's without a doubt the best book in this trilogy.

The second book was just as good and I loved the fact that we not only got new characters that come from Deborah's mind, but we get actual historic figures, which was so great! I loved the drama in this book as well as the romance. A great sequel.

The Book of Life, sadly, isn't my favourite book in this trilogy. I loved the nostalgia of characters coming back from Shadow of Night because it was a surprise. I also loved the conclusion, which I was happy with. I also really liked that everything we loved about the characters were the same. But, unlike the first two this one kept switching POV's quite a lot and it threw me off course. Another hitch for me was that the action didn't always capture my attention and I'd get bored of it.

I'm not saying that The Book of Life is boring, because it's not. It's just some of the scenes could've been more action packed! However, I still very much loved this book and it's one of my absolute favourite adult series of all time!
