The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro

3.0

There was a lot of stuff on art techniques and history, which made me feel a little disconnected. However, the fact that it took place in Boston and The Gardner Museum is next door to my grad school made up for that.

There were 3 plots woven together. The first was the present day plot of Claire being hired to paint a forgery of Degas (if that was a spoiler, you should really pay more attention to the title...). the second took place in Claire's past and dealt with her fall from grace. The third consisted of Belle Gardner's letters to her niece. While all three plots tie in nicely, I could have done without the letters. The Claire plots were fast paced and engaging, switching to reading letters was a wee bit jarring.

All told, though, the book was decent. I read it in a couple of days whilst recovering from a sinus infection. 'Twas a good, lazy day/convalescence read.
