Summers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn

4.0

Slice-of-life medievalish coming of age story ... mild romance, no spice, could have been a lot darker given the presence of not-very-willing servants and enslaved 'fae'. I was honestly rather hoping for that too, as our 14-yr old MC starts to notice the undercurrents around her, but it stays relatively chill when she's 17-18 and understands more ... there is a darker tone at that point, but it's more personal than world-building.

A good recommendation for a standalone 'cottage-core' read with a reasonable plot, interesting characters, and a cosy if unadventurous ending.
