But here's the thing that got to me:  I'm into the whole dark romance vibe, but man, I'm getting tired of the trope where the female leads are always so naive. I'd kill to see one of them turn into a total badass, like in that "Mindfuck series" where the heroine takes charge and flips the whole story on its head.

I keep crossing my fingers that the female lead gets a chance to stand up for herself and maybe even outsmart the guy once in a while.

I'm for sure reading this whole series I just might need a break in between each book, it's fucking intense! 

 Sure, a bit more backstory on how their feelings developed would be nice, but let's face it—I'm here for the steamy scenes, and Shantel totally brings it.
