I totally get why people love this more than an Enchantment of Ravens, although this isn’t to say Rogerson’s debut was bad by any means. A Sorcery of Thorns really exemplifies Rogerson’s compelling characters with a larger, saving the world by bumbling through story line as opposed to AEOR where the plot was very character focused. This had a healthy mix of both character and plot focus.

The main trio were fantastic. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas were such fun and interesting characters to follow around, and they, especially Elisabeth, were all active agents in the story. Elisabeth is incredibly smart and capable, and Nathaniel is well aware of that, which makes the romance that much more compelling. It was a mutual respect of their capabilities. I also just loved how much Nathaniel called Elisabeth a chaotic menace fjnsrnsns lmao

Also, the magic in this fantasy world was so cool. Grimoires turning into monsters and having personalities and traits separate from each other was so cool, and I would love to see further expansion upon this universe/magic system. That final sequence was so good, and I teared up several times. I’m looking forward to Rogerson’s future releases!
