I want to thank Buddy Read Book Nook for having me on the read-along of Alive at Night by Amelie Rhys. This is the first book in the 'WildFlower' series, and it's off to a strong start. The story follows Juniper and Julian through a dual point of view and flashes from their past. Julian is snarky and very protective of his work colleague, whom he has known since he was a child. Juniper is one of his sister's best friends, Gemma, being that sister. I always laughed at the pet names throughout the book, 'Daisy, Lily,' for Juniper, as it just made me smile a lot. This is a slow burn for the first half of the book with the build-up, especially with them both working on a case together in the forced proximity of that tiny office. I really enjoyed Julian's point of view the best, for me, I think it was funny to see how he was seeing things through his eyes, especially when, as a reader, you realized why. Juniper, I enjoyed her as well and how sweet she seems at times, even though she listened to some smutty books in the office. Overall, a really fun read, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
