Beneath the Alabaster Spire
This one is for the folks who have accepted that they deserve love, but haven’t figured out how to let it in just yet.
Harlow and Finn are back and they are figuring it out…they are learning together how to be in a healthy relationship, how to trust while knowing they cannot know everything, and how to communicate in a way they just have not done before.
In a lot of ways I feel like the romance in this story is what comes “after” HEA, there is still love and passion, but there is also untended hurt and communication missteps. I know this is a fantasy world, but Harlow and Finn’s love feels so real, which is I guess why they have become comfort characters to me before the series is even finished.
This book is SPICE CITY, so if you’re not into that make a note. BTAS is also full of plot, and more world building. Allison takes us even deeper into this luscious fantasy world, where if I had to pick ANY fantasy world to live in it would be this one (maybe not as a human though…😏😘)
In book two we get even more time with this stunning auxiliary cast of characters who are effortlessly diverse and incredibly rich in character development. There is so much representation in this book, but in the way that if you’re in any kind of accepting queer space, you know that’s how what our friend groups really look like.
These books feel like coming home, and I anxiously await the conclusion of the series in February of 2023 - but for now, read Dark Night Golden Dawn, and know in just a few days you can dive back into this stunning world that has me captivated.
