Sedated: How Modern Capitalism Created our Mental Health Crisis by James Davies

3.0

When I started this, it did seem to be fuelling some biases I already had about mental illness so I was cautious to keep an open mind but actually the book was so much more than that. Overall, I do share a similar opinion most of the time to the author so it would be interesting to read a counter arguments prospective however it is an opinion based on facts and research.
I found the entire thing very interesting, however, to keep my full attention it would needed to have been maybe 50 pages shorter as I found the last couple chapters and conclusion a bit of a slog as they were repetitive, the epiphanies had definitely ran out.
I would be careful who I recommend it to and who I told about as it talks about something that is very personal to a lot of people, in a very clinical and matter-of-fact way. But overall, not bad at all for £0.60 from the charity shop.
