I suppose I can blame it on being burnt out on Oz books over the past two years, but this story - written by Johnny Gruelle to capitalize on 'The Wizard of Oz's success - is bland and full of studied nonsense.
The illustrations are charming, of course, but I couldn't dredge up any interest in the story over several nights of it being on the bedside table. My faithful paging dwindled to picture gazing and then that dried up. I remember liking the 'Raggedy Ann' stories, too. Oh well, onto the donate pile it goes.
