Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

5.0

Melinda Sordino went to a party that changed her entire life. No friends and no support because it traumatised her emotionally and physically. She couldn't speak up even to her parents. Will she continue to suffer while counting down the days until graduation OR 'Speak' up and save herself and everyone's life before it's too late?

What i liked: The writing, wording and everything. So good. I feel like i was able to connect to Melinda throughout the book. This book tells the REAL meaning behind high school which, obviously, includes lots of 'im-giving-up' and 'i-hate-life' phase. I usually hate those depressing characters in a book. But, 'Speak' able to give me a whole different perspective and I actually emphatise with Melinda. Melinda reminds me of Charlie (from perks of being a wallflower), but her life is more lonely, No support from friends, parents and teachers (well, not all) which happens in real life everyday.

What i did not like: The ending..sigh..cliffhangers

Recommended for: High school students, journal lover, people who hate descriptive books. EVERYONE.
