I knew the time would come with Sarah J. Maas would fall victim to the second-book curse, I just didn't think she would do it with this universe. While it's not as bad as some other series that suffer from the curse (I finished this in less than a week), it was definitely a doozy. There were some parts that were utterly confusing and made no sense.

It's nice to see Maas deviate from her formula of "if they don't discuss their plans in detail it will go smoothly," but I just wish those plot and schemes were way clearer on the page.

That being said I did have a huge chunk of the ending spoiled for me due to promotion for CC3 and TikTok and as a result I felt the ending was a little forced. It didn't natural to suddenly
have the Inner Circle from ACOTAR appear and the Hind turncoat also didn't make great sense
and I can't believe I am saying this but I feel like Maas could have benefited from an extra 100 pages or more. I was constantly texting a friend during the last 100 that it felt rushed and pushed out the door.

Also when I started CC, I couldn't find the comparison that people had saying this was Zootopia fanfiction but now I totally get it and wish I didn't.

Now let's start the countdown for CC3!
