A River Dies of Thirst by Mahmoud Darwish
3.5
She screams at night over the land The echo has no echo so she becomes the endless scream in the breaking news which was no longer breaking news when the aircraft returned to bomb a house with two windows and a door.
love the writing style is very blunt with so much pain, a message to humanity and the history of war and genocide that happened in Palestine and other Middle Eastern countries. it is such an important piece of literature to help the reader understand the beauty of poetry that also could be a tool for resistance. i enjoy every passage in this book and i felt a lot of emotion reading them. meanwhile, in the future chapter, the author felt more disconnected from the theme at the beginning and the difference in content is quite significant making me also feel disconnected from the whole book.
fair to say i have my favorite poems and have poems that feel nothing and i can’t relate. still, a book that is worth to be read.
