The Golden Cage by Camilla Läckberg
4.0
Faye von Essen lives in an exclusive area of Stockholm in a swanky apartment with a gorgeous husband and an adorable daughter. Faye’s life is perfect, until she finds herself in a police station. The truth is that Faye’s life is far from what it appears.
THE GILDED CAGE is a twisty and thrilling story that centers on themes of revenge in a world where women’s accomplishments are not valued. The plot development is on the slow side as the story begins and the scene is set. The wait is so worth it though because the slow build of each layer builds upon the complexity of the story and ultimately reveals the main character’s motivations.
I appreciate the set of characters that are featured in this story, each is well developed and interesting. The main characters’ story arcs are well done as well.
The ending came as a shock to me, in a good way. It’s excellently crafted and is a wholly enjoyable read. I’ll be seeking out the next book in this series.
