Fairly standard Pratchett, though there is the bonus of this being a stand-alone. Usual humour and wry observations on human nature.
We begin with our main character in a woeful position being a pretty poor trainee assassin. Teppic wants to be part of the modern era, but when he is forced - on account of the death of his father - to become the new pharaoh he is unable to make the advancements he’d like to.
As usual, great observations on human nature and some wonderful side characters. I especially liked the use of the old pharoah to make wry little comments on what was taking place.
