Shopgirl by Steve Martin
5.0
This really is a gem. It's short and clear and yet somehow also really interesting even though it's about common life struggles (career, love relationships, taking care of yourself, sabotaging yourself, screwing other people over, etc). Martin really had a wonderfully detached way of telling this story and made the characters themselves quirky enough to really get into their stories. The film is a great adaptation in terms of the tone of the narration, and well, who can ever get enough of Jason Schwartzman?
