TW: cancer - vivid descriptions of treatment

First off, this is not a romance book. What this book describes as the main point, very much is not. Once I figured that out, it was easy to predict what was going to happen and how everything was going to tie together. This does not focus on romantic relationships as it’s main plot, and does not have a happily ever after/happy for now, which is a requirement for the romance genre.

I honestly think the marketing did this book a disservice, as if it was more upfront it would find its audience way easier. Additionally, the “hook” at the beginning isn’t even necessary. It actually feels a bit manipulative, as it does make you want to keep reading to see what that’s all about. But, that makes the book have little re-readability and the book could exist, and possibly be better, without that hook.

This is more of a story about platonic love and best friends. There were lines in here that were poignant and gut wrenching. Unfortunately, feeling slightly manipulated by the plot took away from that.
