A Kid's Book About White Privilege by Ben Sand

A Kids Book About consistently puts out the best books on the market about tough and abstract topics, and this one is no exception. They handle the topics with no sugarcoating and no condescension, while still exploring the content in a safe and approachable manner. The use of basic typography and colors to convey mood and meaning work better than pictures ever could. This title has a basic and bland color scheme, which I would normally criticize. However, given that this book is about race, the use of skin tones and the colors we use to refer to skin tones (that often aren't actually the color of skin) is brilliant. This book is definitely written for white kids (and adults), but it also might help explain to kids of color why their white friends are oblivious to the struggles people of color face (and give them language to talk about it).
