I never felt like I really knew the characters. So much of the violence, and rape threats thrown around like confetti, seemed like it was for nothing more than shock value. "They're rapists who'd kill their own brother for half a reason! See how evil they are?!?" There's no subtlety or menace, just a lot of in-your-face sensationalism.
