Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty
5.0
I went into this book as a fan of Caitlin Doughty from her "Ask a Mortician" series, so I started with high expectations. It does not disappoint. Caitlin is a wonderful storyteller and this brutally honest, funny and sometimes heartbreaking view into her life is the best piece of non-fiction that I have read in quite some time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with curiosity regarding the funeral industry and the strange denial American culture has with death.
