This book was 2 stars until the end, which was enough to make it a 3 star read. The ending was fast paced, smart, and an enjoyable twist. However, the rest of the book was not nearly as good. Many important scenes were summarized instead of being written and it cheapened the drama of them. Characters, like Jude's twin sister, had no consistent motivation and their actions seemed to very wildly in order to fit the plot. Cardan's characterization was also terrible. His personality dramatically shifts from beginning to end with no good explanation. I honestly thought about not finishing this book several times in the middle.
