I Am Cherished by Onome Ako [Scholastic Canada #gifted]

When Kikelomo goes to school, she is excited to share her name with her classmates as they all take turns. When it comes to her turn though, another classmate makes fun of her and says that her name is not normal and too long. Upset, she returns home and tells her parents who remind her of where her name comes from and the meaning of her name - cherished. She is reminded of all the people in her life who cherish her and love her - her name being a reminder of that love. She proudly returns to school the next day to share with her classmates what her name means and inspires the others to share where their names come from as well.
