Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers by Rob Grant, Douglas Naylor

3.0

It's been quite a few years since I've read this book or listened to the audio by the incredible and incomparable Chris Barrie, so this became the book the Mr. and I would listen to on longish drives. We just knocked out the last 1.5 hours today.

It was pure nostalgic fun, though it does appear I've grown out of some of the humor that I derived from it in years past. The jokes have dated themselves a little more than HHGTTG (at least in my opinion), and some just didn't hit me as they used to. The medium? I've watched the show in more recent years, and while the same could be said for the show, it didn't wear quite as much for me as the book did.

Still, it was enjoyed all the way through, and my goodness. The talent of Mr. Barrie! If you have not done the audio of this book, you should do so straight away. He's a remarkable voice talent, and when he does the crew in particular you can almost forget it is one man doing all the voices. Give it a listen!
