During my senior year of high school, this book altered my life. It was one of the few books with a plus-sized heroine pursued by a man or, rather Were-Hunter. The story of Bride and Vane is still one of my absolute favorites; however, the audiobook was terrible.

I am trying to get into audiobooks, and one person advised me to listen to a book I had previously read. I decided on Night Play since it has been a while since I have reread the book. But good lord! It was a mess. I am unsure why the reader used the wrong accents for specific characters. For Bride, a Louisiana native, the narrator used a typical Southern accent. It made listening to this audiobook aggravating because Bride didn't sound like a Louisiana native but a random Southerner in Louisana. Also, the reader used a British accent for Kyrian, who is from Thrace! A modern Greek accent would have been efficient. For Valerius, a former Roman General, the reader tried to keep from sounding like Nintendo's Mario but failed. I wish that they had got a reader that was familiar with the series. I still listened to it because I adore Bride and Vane.

For the record:
Book: 5/5
Audiobook: 2/5
