The River Leith by Leta Blake

5.0

Re-read 7/4/17
Okay, upon re-reading this with a more open mind and a new perspective on the things that I wasn't crazy about during my first read, I've bumped this up to 5 stars. Those things that bothered me before --
Spoilerwhat Zach did and how their relationship was kept from Leith at the start,
I understand why those things happened now, upon reflection.

Original review:

Hm. I'm torn. I loved Leith and this take on amnesia, which is not my favorite trope. I got that the author wanted to explore amnesia as a way to show a couple falling in love all over again so the amnesia thing worked for me here. I wasn't thrilled with what Zach did a few weeks after Leith came out of his coma,
Spoilerin his home that he shared with Leith, no less. I mean, I get that Zach was in a really lonely place when he did it but that doesn't mean I agree with it. Poor Leith!
I could sympathize with Zach and Leith both.

I really didn't like how their relationship was kept from Leith just because somehow Leith identified himself as straight (and why would that even come up? Does anyone ask you after you get out of a coma, "Hey, are you still bisexual?" uh. ???) after the coma. Felt like a betrayal to me.

I loved all the tenderness and the scorching sex between Zach and Leith. The way Leith felt so protective over Zach, especially when they made love just filled me with happiness.
