A Gallery for the Barbarian by Taylor Hartley, Taylor Hartley
3.0
3.5/5: a lot of fun in that you’d hardly expect more play within the sword and sorcery genre until you encounter it. Each chapter chronicles an adventure in its own way, and it is a delight chasing after Violetto and Brask for each story. There is here brilliant prose flashing like light off the surface of a gemstone, or many. This is an unabashedly weird one, it must be said, and definitely delights in eccentricity and retelling/subversion of genre fiction tropes.
