Ah yes, the OG vampire story that predated Dracula but wasn't equally popular. As someone who was exposed to a lot of horror movies and not so easily disturbed by anything, this book was rather unnerving to read at times, which was a delightful surprise if you ask me. Yes, the story is predictable and you already know what you are signing up for, but the writing is exceptionally immersive and sublime. I personally think it still holds up as a classic eerie horror novel.
