Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

5.0

I'm late to the party, but I'm glad I came!

This book is very well written and has a perfectly balanced mix of everything: survival, romance, murder mystery, courtroom drama, underdog story, unlikely relationships, heartwarming acts of kindness, nature, etc. It's easy to see why it appeals to such a wide audience. And that ending though!

The characters in the story feel real. They are flawed, but also have redeeming qualities. Tate, Jumpin', and Kya became my favorite characters to read in the book.

I also really enjoyed the descriptions of nature that are included and how they often serve as a natural description or foreshadowing to what is occurring in the story.

A great read!
