This was an Amazon First Reads that I should have DNFed at 50 pages. I hadn't read a sci-fi book in a while and was in the mood, so I snagged this one up. Its premise is basically a war in which the whole world is fighting together against an unknown enemy. The revelation of who the enemy was was about the only interesting part of the whole book, but that didn't happen until almost halfway through, and by that time I was so uninvested in the book that even that twist couldn't save it for me.

I will give a small disclaimer here and say that I am in general not a fan of the military genre. I don't mind "war" books when the focus is anything other than the military. This book was inundated with military operations and jargon, and it just ended up losing me. I will not go on to read the second one (I believe this is supposed to be a duology when it's finished), but if you like both science fiction and military fiction, you might really enjoy this.
